I have more than 20 years of experience as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in clinical, administrative and leadership positions. I earned my master’s degree in social work from New York University. I am experienced in providing individual and group therapy in suburban and inner city communities. Before starting my private practice, I worked in large New York hospital settings (Northwell Health and Bronx-Lebanon Hospital), as well as residential and day programs in Philadelphia.
While working as Clinical Director of a residential program in Philadelphia, I earned my master’s degree in public health (MPH). The field of public health focuses on improving the health of populations and communities through health promotion, disease and injury prevention and access to health care. Mental health is a fundamental component of overall health and is recognized worldwide as a public health priority. I advise organizations using a public health framework with a focus on individuals and organizational structure. Through awareness, cultural sensitivity, education and access to care, the mental health of athletes and athletic staff can become an asset rather than a liability.
Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity…indeed, there is no health without mental health. World Health Organization (WHO)
